I'm finally getting to the glue up portion of the doll bed project.
Here they are.
they're all maple and maple ply.
They measure 24" x 12" to make sure her dolls all have a place to stay.
I was wondering if they would be ready for Christmas.
I finally had shop time without my daughter.
I can use the nights for construction and staining.
Thanks for posting your doll bed projects for inspiration.
Ron

Ron, those look awesome. Great job. But you have to admit that your daughter has too many dolls when you have to start stacking them to sleep

It looks like everyone is getting ready for Christmas. I can't let the LOML see these as I will be building some as well. Looks good Ron, I like the headboards. At first I thought they were white, but the picture fooled me.

Re: Doll Bed Progress...the "Bump Beds"

Dave,
The dolls will have to share beds even with the three beds.
I think the number of dolls in childhood directly equate to the number of shoes in adulthood.
You'll be there soon enough ;-) .
I was planning on using the hand rubbed clear Poly on this.
Does anyone have input on finishes that will resist crayons, markers and
last a few lifetimes?

The Bump Beds look great I like the design :icon_thum I just got a gel poly that I like and I think it may do what you need. Let me know I am going to apply to some bowls today and on a small box soon

I agree with the poly. It is hard, scratch resistant, and will take the abuse kids give it.

Stainless steel is kind of a pain to work with if you don't have a metal brake.

Re: Doll Bed Progress...the "Bump Beds" COMPLETED!

Here's the final product....completed with 2 days to spare......
I asked a friend at work to sew a sheet and comforter for each.
I bought the materials.
She had extras and also sewed a pillow, sham, flat sheet, throw pillows.
In exchange I'm making beds for her 5 y/o daughter.

Cool beds Ron. I like the "bump" design. Maybe I should have done the beds for my nieces like that. It's great to be Santa's helper for kids. I'm trying to beat the clock with a pair of high chairs for the same two nieces baby dolls.
