Henry, It's actually pretty easy using a 90 deg. 1/2" dia. V- bit in the router...Woodwrangler did a great job of explaining it V-carving a Bulldog here on the foum, so I won't take away his explanation and pictures.
You can also see the technique on a Youtube video if you search "Vectric Vcarve inlay".
That is much easier than me trying to explain the whole thing here...good luck with it if you decide to try it.

Vectric V-Carve Pro is the software I use...Like all software, there's a learning curve, but in this case generally pretty easy.

That's beautiful but I wish I hadn't seen it. Now I want a CNC router even more than I did before. :( :D :D

That's the way it all starts (lol)...Tablesaws, Drill Presses, Lathes, CNC Machines, it doesn't matter...thanks for the kind words, and I hope you do get the chance to make the plunge because it is fun.
