Woodcraft has the Nova G3 in a good package deal right now:

http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/2080766/29195/Nova-G3-Chuck-and-Jaw-Promotional-Package.aspx

Chuck, Mini Cole Jaws and a couple other goodies for $ 150.

I have a Supernova 2 and want some Cole Jaws to finish the bottoms of bowls.

I was thinking I might spring for this package because as I see it switching between jaws and on these will be a bit of work right? a total of 8 set screws to change out each time?

My question is this Nova G3 a good chuck or should I just get the regular Cole Jaws for now and wait on the Supernova 2 to go on sale. Also are the jaws and accessories the same for each chuck since they are both Nova products?

In my opinion the G3 is a very good chuck, use it as much as my SN2.
Here is a link to Cole Jaw specs.
http://www.teknatool.com/products/Chuck_Accessories/Cole.htm
As you can see the mini are only about 6 ¾ external grip and 8-½ internal grip.
All of Novas jaws are usable (swappable) between any Nova chuck.
See the other forum topic "Nova G3 Question" for more data.
Tim Geist was the factory rep in the US for Teknatool until a few weeks ago. If you go to http://www.timstoolcrib.com/products.php he has refurbished SN2’s for $123.50 not including shipping. You will have to call to see if it includes any jaws, the insert, or if sales tax applies.

well i bit on the $ 150 package at woodcraft today. i also bought the specialized "spanner" to remove the chuck and the threaded inserts. we'll see how that works out. if it's a hassle to get the insert out i may order another one.

In my book the spanner and a nylon washer should absolutely be purchased with the first chuck.
