Chinese furniture inlay work

I was watching this episode of How It's Made about making Chinese inlay furniture. I thought how they inlaid the mother of pearl pieces was interesting. What I'm wondering is what the paste adhesive is they used for the inlays? Almost looks like the same pink goo my dentist uses to make molds.

Has anyone here done inlay work in this manner. If so, what did you use for the adhesive?

I have done some very basic inlay work using a scroll saw and creating a bevel cut. I have only used wood so a very small amount of regular wood glue is all that is needed. I have no desire to do what they showed but it was interesting to watch.

The level of craftsmanship of Chinese furniture is incomprehensible.

WAY too many people in China with WAY too much time on their hands! They produce incredibly detailed art and craftsmanship.

Actually, this video was from Thailand. I guess that makes this a Thai knockoff .
