Here is a flag case my MIL asked me to make (her dad was in WWII). this was a really neat project. My kids were impressed that I could make a triangle. The case is cherry (from Jack, saw4you) w/ blonde shellac and rubbed with 0000 steel wool. I cut the 22.5 degree miters with a tenoning jig (67.5 degree tilt) and the 45s via SOP. With the dry fit, I realized that the 22.5 degree miters were slightly off cause the 45s at the top would not completely close . I measured this top angle to be 88.5 degrees rather than 90, so I split the difference between the 2 45s (44 1/4 each) and presto, it fit :D! I don't feel too bad, b/c the .75 degree difference split between the 22.5 degree miters means these were off by 0.375 degrees each.

Now I just hope the flag will fit; FIL measured it, so it all rests on his shoulders ;)!
