I've already turned the legs. Do you anticipate any problems cutting the mortises with either a router (suitable jigged) or a drill press?

You just have to make sure the leg doesn't move in the cuts because both machines will apply some rotational forces. If the entire leg is turned with no flat spots, I would probably make some kind of jig like you hold a pipe in place with (45 degree V) for the round portion to fit snuggly into. Either clamp in place or in some way hold it completely rigid for the drill or the rout. Hope that makes sense. In my case, putting the mortises in while wood was square also insured I could keep the mortises on the same centerline. Let me know how it turns out.
