Check-Out the 12' Picnic Table we Built

My friend Steve and I spent today finishing a 12' picnic table for his weekend home in Cleveland county. It is made of pine boards (some heart of pine) salvaged from a condemned state bridge on his property. Th table is very rustic and suitable for a wooded area.

12' is a really large picnic table! Twice the size of the BORG picnic tables. If they take care of the finish, they should enjoy it for many years.

12' is a really large picnic table! Twice the size of the BORG picnic tables. If they take care of the finish, they should enjoy it for many years.

​The boards are approximately 80 years old and treated with a salt preservative rather than modern pressure treated. The boards have held-up fairly well and should last a few more years.:)

Hard to put a value on something so nice and useable. I’m struck by how straight it stays when picked up in the middle. Strong wood.
