First, let me apologize for all the changes and most of all ,,the ones that were only partially put in on Friday. I thought the menu/navigation changes would take about 8 hrs, but it ended being quite a bit more. So it ended with something only partially implemented and not really debugged.
I think the worst is over:eusa_liar I realize that changes can be disconcerting for the users, especially when live they have been, but I'm trying to keep the site up.
These weren't done on a whim and I'm not quite finished. I am addressing 3 basic issues.
1 From the beginning, one of the biggest problems that I get the most PM, emails, etc. is site navigation. "Where is, how do I" .you see a lot of these in the forums, But I get more directly. And frankly the "Other Links" idea sucked.
2 Right now there are a lot of issues that only I can deal with. But we have 10 or 11 people who want to help. Some of the changes or so that the Admins and Mods can take some of that workload, if they want.
3 SEO Search Engine Optimization. What you say?:eusa_doh:
Right now over 80% of our new members get here through web searches. But they aren't getting here, becuase of normal links but becuase I am paying for them. I stop the campagain and new members dropped to almost to zero:-( So I restarted it. The only way out of this delima is to have many more of our pages in the search indexes. After 9 months of operations, we really only have a few and all with very low weight.
The only way to make this happen is a process called SEO. I have started that process. Some of you may have noticed that thread and post pages seem to have new links. The new ones are more search engine "freindly" That is only one part of the process. Just creating the Site Navigation menu will help.
So no I wasn't changing for the sake of change, not really adding new features. To be honest, almost all of the changes are for my benefit, not yours.
