Carving a rifle stock

I have never used the file to the final stage. I just switch to the maroon synthetic pads when I get close to final phase. I might add the I have customers who don't want the bright pewter in the forest while hunting. For them I add plumbers babbit to the mix when heating for a lower shine. Use the file to maintain the angles and switch to a lower grade of abrasive as you move along.

Thanks. I’ll try the maroon pads. I’ve tried the pewter on a bowl and some cutting boards. Bright metal shouldn’t be an issue for these!
