I'll be interested to see if you get that ... if so, what a STEAL!

I did one of those before but got an email a day or two later saying "so sorry"

Yeah, my guess is an email...but if they do ship, I'll also get the 2 rebates from Powermatic and have only $223.55 in it!

A lot of time Amazon does honor that kind of stuff. I once bought 100 metal cutting bandsaw blades for $10. They were regular $8 each.

I hope you get it!

Did you challenge it?

I know that most states have very specific rules about bait-and-switch. Misprints in ads must be corrected at the door. When you get to the check-out lane, it is too late, and they must sell it to you at the advertised price.

Once they have taken your order, it may not be legal for them to deny it. If they turn this down, it would be interesting to get a lawyers opinion on it.

From what I'm reading online, these are being cancelled by Amazon. Must have been a mistake.

How did yours go? Any word yet?

After my recent experience with Amazon, I only have one thing to say. "Once a snake, always a snake!"

Musta been a bad experience. :confused_

I think mistakes just happen and in the Amazon case they are on the world stage with a type or mistake.

It wasn't too long ago (a year) that they did this with the Powermatic tablesaws for like $300. Oh yeah, I bought one ... and then it was quickly corrected.

I do hope they can hook you up with such a sweet deal, but I don't think they are obligated in any way. I recently had added an item to my shopping cart (not on Amazon) and then the price went up (like $600). I went ahead and processed my order to see what would happen -- since it had locked into my shopping cart at the lower price. About 2 hours later I received a call from the owner of the company apologizing and explaining he just couldn't do it. I have a small business and could sympathize, so we met in the middle with a decent arrangement.

In the case of Amazon, they are often just the storefront but there are other businesses operating behind the scenes (remember Amazon used to just be an online book store and now sells everything from panties to pantries). So it wouldn't be Amazon getting hurt by having to honor such a mistake ... it would be the business supplying the product.

Jermy, Amazon sent me a "Amazon Recommends For You" on Friday Dec 28th (Black Friday)to purchase the Bostitch 23 gauge pinner for $67.99. Each time I would either place in cart, or proceed to check out, the price jumped to $126. There were no promo codes, or links to keep lower price. After trying all weekend, unsuccessfully, I emailed them on Monday Dec 1st. They replied on Tues, Dec 2nd, that I could still buy it for $67.99. Again the price didn't work. So on Wednesday, Dec 3rd, I spent an hour on the phone with them. They basically said, " Yeah we sent you the email, but aren't going to sell it to you for that price." I even reminded them that they sent a second email confirming the price. Still no go. They also sent same email to one other here at NC Woodworker, with same results. My options now are to print out both emails and file a complaint with AG's office for unfair and deceptive business practices. I think that is the way I will go. Even if I don't get the pinner, they WILL have to take time to reply to AG's office in writing. Cost them as much as the pinner costs.
