Is it possible to repair a check in the end of a really nice board? I realize that if a board has checked and the crack is 1/4" or wider, it would be pretty impossible. I have some wide boards that have checks in the end that have not really separated more than a 1/16" or less and I was wondering if I could force glue into it, clamp the check together and, basically, fix the check.

Has anyone ever tried this? If so, anything you can recommend would be appreciated.

That's a pretty cool trick right there. Got some pieces I'm going to try that on.

Off subject a little, that guy has got some pipe clamps!!! Whew.

If the boards are longer than you need and you're not wasting too much just cut off the checked portion several inches beyond the end of the check. Another option might be to rip the checked cutoffs into narrower boards for other uses. :dontknow:
