I have a Porter cable model 1100 router that my grandfather used. It is apx. 50 years old. It needs bushings and power cord from what I can tell. It has a planer and edge guide and sharpening attachment. Is this worth repairing?

Rob, I certainly would think it was worth a shot. If for no other reason than it used to be your Grandfathers and it would be nice if you could enjoy it as much as he did. You might try a search for PC's service center online to see if you can get a line on some parts for it.

I think this is the same as current day model 100. Nice little 7/8HP machine. Call Ann over at ABC power Tools in Raleigh, she can probably get any or all of the parts that you need. The base is the same as the ones on the 630's and the 690's. If machine can't be saved, then base can be mounted into some dedicated jig. Does it have a nice shiny top or is it painted black?

If it was me and I was going to get it repaired, my first choice would "SPECIALTY TOOL SERVICE" in Raleigh, their phone number is 919-828-9174. I have had things repaired there and was very pleased with their work. My 2nd choice would "ABC POWER TOOL INC." in Raleigh and their number is 919 832-2802. I have never had anything repaired there but they have a good rep.

The address on Capital is the Dewalt repair center, since they bought out Delta and PC they have picked up their products. Know nothing about their work. Used to have to work with these people at store openings doing tool demos and I can't think of anything good to say about them.

If you run into a dead end with the local folks, let me know. Porter Cable / Delta is a client of mine and I might be able to track down some old timers at headquarters.

Just an update for you. Took it to Porter Cable on Raleigh blvd, they looked at it and found a tooth missing on the armature told me it would cost 85.00 to 100.00 to repair "if" they could get the right parts. He suggested I buy a new one.

Sigh...... Thanks for all the replies and help offers. Any advice on a new one, fixed or plunge, size, best bang for the buck. I am only going to use it sparingly. Hobby type work all small scale.
