Cabinet complete

Here is my latest project. This cabinet is curly maple and sapele. Aniline dyes were used on the maple and black lacquer on the sapele. The curl pops nicely but it doesn’t show in the pics.
I wanted to use non mortise hinges but I had a hard time finding them in polished silver. I finally found some, but I think they are too big for the case. I will change them out if I find some smaller.
Fun little project. Now, which niece, nephew, cousin, friend or coworker gets it ?

Very nice job. beautiful piece. Any chance you can post up some interior pics of drawer and carcase construction?

Yes, great project! And I would also like to see more about carcass construction...do I see dovetails?, how did you do the drawer slides? Is there a shelf in the bottom compartment?

The carcass is a big box dovetailed together at 4 corners using the Keller Jig.
Next, dovetail dividers were put in front and back. The leg stock got stopped dadoes, shaped, and then glued on all 4 corners, protruding above the top of the carcass about 1”. The top sits on the legs.
The dovetailed drawers use a dovetail center guide riding on runners glued on the dividers.
Yes there is a shelf in the bottom cabinet.

Kelly, the more I look at this, the more I like it...and I liked it a lot the first time..Thanks for the info on construction.
I am a little confused re the leg attachment...you say stopped dadoes. Does that mean the sides extend out beyond the dividers and fit in a dado, or is the leg attachment a rabbet that receives the side and divider. Sorry if that doesn't make sense, but the inside color of the dividers and the side makes it hard to tell.
Thanks

The dividers are in sliding dovetails slots in the sides of the carcass. They are sapele but dyed black. So now you have a big dovetail box with 5 “compartments”, for 4 drawers and cabinet.
Leg blanks get a stopped rabbet, sorry I called it a dado, on the router table. It is about 3/4 by 1”. It should be deep enough to cover the sides. Stopped about 4” from the bottom and squared out. Then shape the legs and glue them onto the corners. Depending on your stock thickness, you might also use some screws.
I hope this helps.
