Ok, I'm starting a new job in a few days. Once I've settled in I'd like to make a new workbench. I'm a big fan of traditional benches, Tage Frid and Frank Klausz' benches in particular. Does anyone have any reasons for or against building a bench like this, or would anyone suggest anything else?

I think as long as the top is flat, and the base is sturdy, it's a good work bench. Front and tail vices with dog holes are very handy. My "bench" is constructed out of 2x4's and MDF. It works OK. I would love to make a beautiful, and more functional bench like you mention some day, but if it ain't broke don't fix it. Dave:smile:

They both look about the same and both look beautiful. Go for it. Having never used one like that, I can't speak to its utility
