I made a keepsake box in Bubinga. Have applied a coat of Danish oil. I'd like to topcoat with lacquer. Do I need a coat of shellac on top of the oil prior to applying the lacquer?

No, I don't believe so. Let the Danish Oil cure for a few days and you can go right ahead and apply your lacquer. That is what I have done on several small boxes, and the finish turns out great.

Thanks, Dave. I'll apply Saturday morning.

Clay, I may post a pic after it's finished. The bubinga used was flat-grained. Now I'm wanting some highly figured stuff to maul!
