Thanks everyone.

Customer is very pleased. "Customer" meaning he gave me all of the tree I wanted in exchange for a bowl. He contracted with someone to cut it up and haul away the branches. The tree blew down in what I thought was a light storm. There have been several downed Bradford Pears in the neighborhood this year. And, now the ground is very wet.

Beautiful bowl! Did you soak and then wet turn? Interested in the process. Have you soaped other woods?

On the DIY grit paste look up Kim Tippin in YouTube. She shows a couple different grit mixes and links to a polish(OB Shine. Juice). Pretty simple to make.

Steve,
1) wet turn, 2) soak, 3) finish sand. I've soaped oak, maple, and tupelo - about anything I turn green and leave any wall thickness gets soaped.

Thank you Pappy, The trees are 'fragile' for sure.
