I bought an old Goodell Pratt 125 bench lathe but it is apparently missing the chuck. Originally it came with either a #1 or #2 Morse taper depending on the year, since I don't know the year of this lathe and I'm not very familiar with lathe headstocks, I'm not sure what I have or what to go look for. I guess for woodturning I need a spur drive but I don't know what I need to attach it. If my post is confusing it's only because I am confused. Thanks.

There should be a hole through the shaft where you can use a knockout bar (any soft steel rod that will fit) to remove that screw/nut chuck that's in there now.

Measure the diameter and thread count of the threaded shaft and order a small 4 jaw chuck to fit. You can also check the Morse taper size after you remove the one in there.
