Well, I made it to retirement and made the mistake of stopping at Steve Wall lumber. This stray board followed me home.

Its previous owner developed a health problem and couldn’t utilize it. I hope that I can do it justice.

That is a friend for scale. No, he is not 3 feet tall!

Glad no cops saw that rig
Did pass a trooper. Don’t know, it couldn’t go back with 4 straps connected to eye bolts in 2x12s nor tip downwards as weight was forward of the end of the tailgate and I added 2 bags of concrete mix. So I went for it.

I admit that I meant to take back roads home but I restarted my gps map and it sent me towards the highway. It hadn’t shifted after two stops so I went ahead.

Shared your concern but Thankfully the trip and unload went well.

They have some good stuff. Every time I go i keep buying a small slab of the olive wood. They don't have much left. I'm not sure what i'm going to do with it but I felt compelled to purchase it...

I'm surprised no one else has asked, "what are you going to do with it?" I look forward to seeing pics of whatever it becomes.
I was hoping to build a dining table for that room but my wife doesn’t think that it goes well with other large piece in that room. If I cannot change that mindset I will make a slightly smaller dining table for our living/informal dining area.

That will leave half of it, though I will likely steal part of the live edge from the narrow section to fill in one side at the other end where it was cut off. Hope that was due to shipping constraints and not a misplaced cut!

That is one honking big slab of Bubinga, transported in one piece. I had a 17’x 36” slab of Mahogany shipped to my house via motor freight, only way the slab could be shipped was to cut the slab down in length.. I wound up with two 8’ 6” slabs..

What did that set you back if you don't mine saying?

Anything expensive or exotic I use veneer.

Not sure that I could have managed another 2 feet in my Tacoma 6’ bed. What did you do with your slab?

Jeff, while I am very impressed with your new board and look forward to seeing what you do with it; I am equally impressed with the method that you devised to bring the beast home!
