I have built a jewlery box for a neighbor using some barn wood she got from her father. It is heart pine and the 1st coat of BLO really popped the grain. I am going to finish it with about 3 coats of shellac. Would a 2nd coat of BLO really accomplish anything before using the shellac? :dontknow:

Thanks Dave, but I just wish that you weren't so verbose and could be a bit more succint when answering my question. :rotflm:

I don't up my post count by being long winded :gar-Bi
I consider BLO a wood colorant, and not a final finish. One good application will do what it needs to do. I have got very similar effects as BLO from an application of shellac or an oil based finish.
You're good to go with your initial application of BLO, a little more will just extend the curing time.

MTCW, the long winded version,

Dave:)
