Hello all -

I've not been posting much lately due to some health problems and wayy too much work piling up but I'm trying to get back at it. LOML surprised me this weekend with this new shiny PC 4216 dovetail jig package!:eusa_danc

This is the package that includes the Through Dovetail/Box Joint Combo Template, Half-Blind/Dado Combo Template, and the miniature through dovetail template. :icon_chee

Guess you know what I'll be doing for awhile. :wink_smil

Thanks Tracy. I have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes and have been dealing with the fallout from that. It was quite a surprise but not much I can do except deal with it.

The PC is awesome! :icon_thum anybody have some tips for a newbie with dovetail jigs in general? :help:

Nice birthday gloat! I have the one without the minature template. I have been practicing but haven't got it down pat yet. Getting the depth correct wasn't that hard, getting the sides to match up is my problem. There is a stop on the right and left of the jig. I must not get mine exactly straight each time. I always end up out of alignment on the 2 pieces of stock. If cutting in multiples of 2 1/4, 3 1/4, 4 1/4 etc. and the front board is centered, the router bit is at the right depth and the template is in the perfect spot, and the black stops on the sides are correct, I think it will work. But, I've dulled the original bit and still haven't had a perfect one yet! I think I need a little one on one help!:gar-Bi
I'm 52 and have had Type II Diabetes for about 10 years. Been on an insulin pump for 4 years. A change of lifestyle and it can be managed. I grew up with a family full of diabetes, so I knew my time might come. Learn about it and manage it correctly. My life hasn't changed all that much. And now, it's just a daily thing for me. Just keep my numbers in line. Good luck with your jig and diabetes. If you have any questions, I would be glad to share my experience, can't help much with the jig though, since I'm obviously struggling!

Thanks for the tips Wayne. I understand you have to buy the bit from PC for it to work correctly but I cant vouch for it as my first bit is still sharp (for now)!

Does yours have the built-in depth stops on each template? Man, that is a great idea. :eusa_clap The side to side is tricky but I'll just be making half-blind drawers for the near-term so I hope I can ge tit setup and leave it. We'll see :icon_scra

Thanks also for the encouragement on the diabetes. Both my parents are diabetic so I knew my time was coming. So far, no insulin and I"ve changed the lifestyle some but need to get exercise into the mix. All in all, it could be much worse and this has really made me even more thankful for the many blessings and good health I do have. :icon_sunn
