After following the sage advice of fellow NCWoodworkers, I have applied two coats of mineral oil/paraffin wax mix to cutting board. Finished off with 0000 steel wool.
Thanks folks, this simple project is only 3 weeks overdue
Nice, Roger:eusa_clap ....I love your choice of wood colors. Three weeks isn't a long time to wait on a custom piece...unless you're familiar with DaveO's prolific production rates!!! I'll be happy to wait three weeks for MINE!
Keep up the great work,
Thanks folks.
It's walnut, soft maple, yellowheart, and purpleheart. Forstner bit for the hole and router roundover all around. I was hoping for more contrast, but not surprisingly the oil added an amber hue to maple.
Great looking cutting board Roger.:icon_thum Ditto all the comments above on your choice of woods and the arrangement. Hand hole huh?.........I thought that was a parking spot for a beer can.
Great choice of woods. Great job. If I had a cutting board that looked that good all it would be is a countertop decoration, I wouldn't want to put a knife to it. How did you mix the paraffin and the mineral oil? Great work!!!!!!!!!!!!!
