working on a bench with storage for my wife's craft room.
First dry fit of aprons and legs.
attachment.php

tops of the legs will be mitered and connected with a rail. used a home made mortising jig and router with collar. not quite a domino but gets me there for weird mortises.
attachment.php

top rail still oversized to allow for the curve
attachment.php

end assemblies dry fit
attachment.php

piece of the top and some unmilled slats to give the general idea
attachment.php

end assembly with curves cut and legs shaped. roughed out with my #7 and spokeshave, finished with a high angle blade in a couple different planes, a little scraping and a little sanding. 1 coat of Arm-R-Seal semi gloss.
attachment.php

14 slats and 28 mortises later
attachment.php

a little cleaning up of the slats and on to the top.
the top will be "captured" by the curved rails. meaning, i have to have it ready when i do my final glue up or i won't be able to get it in place, i can't just drop it in.

thats my current project, been pretty fun, especially those large miters.

It does look like a fun and useful project. She should be very happy with it. What kind of wood is that? - looks nice.

final product, finished with Arm-R-Seal Semi Gloss and then sheen brought down a little with a waxing.

found a hairline crack in the seat after a couple coats of finish so put in some butterfly keys.
