I saw a huge Beech trunk on top of a burn pile on the way to work this morning.

Anybody want to try and save it before they strike a match?

It's in Colfax and looks to be around 3 ft dia and twenty feet long.

Save it don't let em burn it - QS Beech is some awesome lumber. There's gotta be a good 1000 BF in that 36" by 20'

I would love it!! I don't think there would be much left after dragging it home behind the Caravan.

I made the the trestle for my new ww bench from locally milled Beech. It is not quite as hard as hard maple, closer to white oak, but has nice tight, consistent grain.

I still haven't been able to get up to Bally Block in Philadelphia to get the maple top they are holding for me. Seems like everything is always too far away.

Wow that sure is a bummer, did the person know that they could make some money off of that firewood?:rotflm:

I know a guy here in Goldsboro, His father in law. He let me hunt on his 20+ acres and he hates trees. Well the 20+ acres has a bunch of purple leaf maple trees, sapwood, and other stuff. He said I was welcome to cut some down and also replant some in my yard. I need to take some time and get over there.:BangHead:

Sincerely,
