Well, I am not sure why I did this, and if I win it the LOML is going to have a fit, but I have bid on this saw. It will be a loooongg ride to go and pick it up. I wonder if I can put it in my pickup truck?

35",3 phase Meber.

Hehehehehehehehe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're gon now. LOL, I saw that one and actually found myself thinking about it. It looks to be a little older than my SR600, but in good working shape. The only Meber rep for the US is in Hickory about 5 miles from my house. They stock nearly all the parts you'll need. Let me know if you need help with them.

Good luck with that saw. It looks to be good. If it works out like mine it will be a heck of a saw. That SR600 was the best buy in my shop.

Yea, you've definitely crossed some kind of sadistic line, into 3-phase territory! 8-O That is one monster of a bandsaw, and I hope you win it!

Travis, I don't know if there is in fact a "deep end" but if there is you may have fallen off it! Great feeling, huh???

Hope you get it. Do you have a phase converter?

I would like a saw like that myself, there is a place here in Hickory that has one for sale but its in rough shape. Most of those 35-36in saws weigh in at around 1600lbs so it depends on the size of your truck..

Keep us informed, you may be able to "steal" it at auction.

What you think I like bandsaws or something... :)

Na, I'll be good with the three I have for now. :) I don't have the vertical clearance for anything larger. Since I claimed dibbs on the Moak jointer Travis can have at it with that bandsaw. :) My Meber was an extraordinary deal. Worked perfectly with very little work. Can't ask for more. :)

Travis, you not only need that saw, you deserve it. Do not let some other undeserving, woodworking hack outbid you. Fight the good fight and then drive off into the sunset to claim your well deserved prize. :rolf:

Getting it on your pickup with a forklift will be an entirely different story than getting it off without one.

If you think it's going to be a looooong ride to pick it up it will be an even loooooooooonger ride back knowing that that you are going to have to explain to the LOYL why you just "had" to have it. Good luck.

Let me know when swmbo settles down, and THEN you spring on her that you needa three phase convereter. Only a few hundred more. Last year, I built one for my neighbor to run his Bridgeport mill and Sharpe lathe. I think of it as an INVESTMENT! Seriously, I would be glad to lend my expertise to you on building three phase converter using surplus motors. The most expensive items are the fused disconnects, 2 pole and 3 pole, which BORG stocks.

Yeap, a phase converter opens a whole new world. Trust me on that one. LOL

BTW Travis that BS is only about 3.5 hrs away for me. LOL Be sure to take a flat bed trailer. The riggers will load it for you. You want it as close to the ground as possible for unloading sake. Getting my SR600 was tricky and that was only 20 miles. I can only imagine hauling that puppy. I'm getting the jointer this weekend on a rollback with a friend of mine. It is good to have friends with hauling equipment. :D

Yes, I have to have a phase converter, and very well may take up the offer on building one.

I have been hoping I would be outbid, but it has not been the case. We will see if I win it. I will go ahead and give some advance notice to SWMBO so it will not be a total shock.

Thinking out loud, where in the heck would I put a phase converter? Can I put it in the attic? I think I have an idea of where to put the monster, but jeez, 36" diameter wheels is not a small machine.

I hope you have higher than 8' ceilings. :) BTW, a phase converter in the attic would work just fine. I have mine in my compressor closet. One of these days I'll get my remote wired and be able to turn it one by remote.

Thanks,

John

Re: TRAVIS.... Did you get it?

It went up to $850 and my limit was $800 considering I expected I would have to put $1K into it. Anymore than that and I would buy a new Laguna or Minimax.

That is too bad. I'd bet it'd take very little work to get it purring. There are lots of bandsaws around.
