Just another foreign invasive insect accidently introduced into the U.S. When I hauled logs up north many years ago, ash was in great demand by Larimer-Norton, the company that produces the billets from which the Louisville Slugger is made, by the Union Fork And Hoe Company, for high quality, durable wood handles for shovels, forks, and many other long handles tools, and many furniture factories for use in furniture frames and parts, and a highly desirable firewood that split very straight, and easily. It will be a sorry day when the Ash trees are gone, just as the American Chestnut and the Elms. As advanced a civilization as we are, the scientists and foresters have not as yet found a way to stop the dieses and predators that are destroying our forests. I hope this soon gets turned around.
