I cut out bases, including the dovetails for two free standing master bath vanities in early July. They have been sitting every since then because of surgery.

Today was my first venture back into the shop since surgery. I expected everything to be warped, cupped or something. Boy was I surprised. All was true, square and flat. Both bases are now in clamps all glued up. I may do a little sanding but this is all I can do until I go back and see the doc at the end of Oct.

Still it was great to be back in the shop for a little while.

Oh, forgot my reason for the post. I also had a lot of boards rough cut to width, length and planned. Everything is still in good shape. I am really impressed with how stable the ash seems to be. This wood was not in a conditioned space.

Ash is a very stable wood and ideal for table legs or aprons -- it just doesn't have the prettiest grain or color. I made my outfeed table lages with it and they are straight as an arrow -- BTW, did you ever see a warped Louisville Slugger baseball bat? Many are made of Ash.

It's used a lot for gunwales, seats and thwarts on canoes also. Glad to hear you were out in the shop!
