It is with great joy and happiness I can offer to our little slice of the internet pie this gem of an offering. Smart Flix (aka Technical video rental)

http://smartflix.com/

I've had my eye on them for about a year, waiting to see if they were legit.

Rest assured they are!

If you want to spend a week with a Woodworking DVD this is your answer!

Currently, its $9.99 for a week's rental. While this sounds steep, price out the DVD's they offer and it can be a real deal. For example, a DVD on Drilling & Tapping is $50 new, well worth a rental price IMHO.

So far I've rented 3 dvds, and could not be happier with the service.

They do a ship & return service much like netflix. There is also discounts for ordering the whole set of a series.

One tip, to build a list of videos you want to rent, click Rent on the video, then "Save for Later" at checkout.

They have all the major Fine Woodworking and Lie Nielson DVD's and a whole host of others.

I'll start to post reviews as they come in.

Thanks,
Jim

This is pretty cool ... thanks for the link.

Hopefully with some volume they can lower the price a bit making it even more attractive! :icon_thum

cool site. have you make a backup of the dvd for your own personal library? It is my understanding that when you rent a movie, that movie is your until you send it back. We have netflix, and have a pretty large movie library.

SmartFlix is only for 1 week. They explain that in their terms page.

If I was unclear, SmartFlix is in no way associated with Netflix.

I personally do not believe in making copies. If I find a video I liked enough, I'll purchase a new or used copy.

While I have the floor again, they offer over 2500 titles that cover topics from Wood to Metal to How to build an underground house!

Thanks,
Jim
