I found this in a box of pen kits that i purchased. It’s not a pen kit, but I can’t find out what it is. Don’t even know if the kit is complete or just a random bag of hardware. Tried to search the internet and can’t seem to track down what this actually is. Anyone know?

part numbers are too old to search (I have some WC pen sets that are un searchable) I (THINK) these are arbors that you insert into a pice of wood, and use the thread to insert into a threaded morse taper in the headstock of your lathe and you can turn your chess pieces.

I’m not sure I catch all that. Wish I could find some instructions or something

Do you see any pieces of paper inside the bags?

Do the metal pieces have internal threads?

Is there anything in the bag that looks like scrollsaw templates?

Any additional printing on the bag that says "Spare"? Whatever is in that Spare bag could be illuminating.

Anyone have a very old Woodcraft paper catalog?

Matt,
How exactly did find the instructions?
I found an old Google discussion board comment from September 2003, that sounded a lot like Hank's comment. In it, the commenter referred to a "new" chess kit from Woodcraft.

When you got to www.archive.org, you'll see the Wayback Machine search box towards the top of the homepage. I entered the Woodcraft URL and found saved versions of the site from as far back as December 1996. I started looking for new products and turning kits in the versions saved in August 2003, and later.

I didn't have any luck until I saw a link for "instructions" on one of the pages. I found the chess set in the list, and, thankfully, they actually had the instructions.

Thanks for the info!

This Google search indicates that there is a companion book. Not sure if this is accurate or not.
