Hey folks, they sent me a message and suggested that I drop a line to introduce myself a little bit, so here goes: I am new to "woodworking" world, although I have been doing Residential construction for quite some time. After framing semi-custom homes for a few years I ran into a cabinet maker and fell in love with the art and craftsmenship involved (it is a whole lot cleaner looking than some of my framing jobs). Now I am a "Stupidtendent" to pay the bills but love to route out doors and finish carpentry. I most recently finished my wife's remodel of the house, which involved custom alder full overlay cabinets. I thought that I would never get done, only had to remake four doors. At any rate, that is me in a nutshell, and I look forward to picking everyone's brains about future projects. Thanks for site, glad to see that NC tradesmen, and women, have their own site to meet and greet. Didn't know that it existed until a random internet search. Thanks.

Hello Jarrett and welcome from the coast. This is a great website with lots of friendly and very skilled woodworkers. They are very helpful at lending a hand at solving problems. One common saying on the site is "no, pictures, it didn't happen" so request an album and post pictures of your projects. We all would love to see your cabinets. Bet the alder really looks good.

A huge Welcome to ya Jarrett!

I think that you will really enjoy this pac of great NC Woodworkers! Talent and experience galore! All willing to share their ideas and provide invaluable feedback; especially to us newbies! It sounds like you have already jumped deep into cabinetry and would love to see some pics of your work. As I mentioned, you will certainly get a kick out of this merry bunch of men and women who turn out some very impressive work!

I look forward to your future posts!

Hi Jarrett,

Welcome to NCWW. I was probably (sort of) a builder before a woodworker too. I've been building with Habitat for Humanity as a volunteer for a number of years. Over the past few, I've been getting more involved with woodworking in a shop that looks suspiciously like a two car garage with a load of tools in it. I'll refrain from telling to to post pictures... at least until I post a few myself.

I can already tell that this site will be one of frequent visits, along with Grizzly, Jet, Delta, ...... But I must thank everyone for making me feel very comfortable already, and I must admit that I am usually a browser; however, I hope to change somewhat and be able to join in on some already interesting conversation. And to all, I have requested a photo album, so I will be sure to load those shortly, to prove my own/and woodworking existence as you'll like to say.

ok guys, I got around to updating my New photo album (thanks Steve). I threw a few in there so you can get somewhat of an idea, but I don't have quite the skill and knowledge that some of you oldtimers, no offense, have gotten, but I still have a long way to go. I look forward to some feedback and suggestions for future endeavers.

Thanks Dave, I appreciate your encouragement. Although there are some things that I would definitely change next time, I learned a ton. Dave, while I've got you, let me ask you a question. You seem to be in a very similar boat as to the one I am, being fairly young and somewhat new to the hobby, do you ever feel like some of the older guys in WWing shops don't give you much respect. I mean, I know that we are young and all, but sometimes we have good info to add on things too. Maybe some of the "guru's" could shed some light on that as well, sometimes I just get frustrated when people look at you and don't give the time of day because they think that you can't even use a tablesaw. URGH, just a little erked today I guess.
