This is a great site, thanks for letting me join. I'm mostly into woodturning. Been turning for about two years. I'm a member of AAW and NC woodturners, I have a Nova DVR 3000 lathe .
Echo, echo, echo, echo! Let me add my welcome, too! You'll like this site -- full of ideas, talent and fun, too. And you're close to several other members in the Hickory area. Post some pics and share!
If you haven't noticed already, there are a coupla other Hickory Nuts on the forum. And I feel obligated to warn you about them. One carries a highly contagious disease and the other--well, he "just ain't quite right"
Wayne, welcome to the site. We are glad you elected to join us. It seems like we are getting a fair number of folks interested in woodturning joining this site recently. I look forward to seeing some of your work and reading your input in the forums.
First let me say, "DON'T GO NEAR THOSE OTHER GUYS FROM HICKORY UNLESS YOU CHECK WITH THE DIEASE CONTROL CENTER FIRST" Very contagious and the misses will flog you forever once you get infected. :rolf: Seriously, have fun, make some dust and share, thats what it is all about here.
Hi Wayne,
Hello from one of your turning comrades. I love the spinning wood and curly chips flying myself.
Dude, you are a lucky one to have purchased the DVR3000. That is one lathe I want to have.
Tell me, does it really maintain a steady rpm under load even at 20 rpm?
When and if I can produce enough profit to buy one, it was my first choice. Right now thats a bleak prospect, I will be laid off from my job in 5 wks after 23 yrs.
thanks for welcoming me.:eusa_danc I did post a few pictures(hopefully correctly). I'll be posting more as time goes by.
thanks again
Wayne
PS: Cad, the dvr lathe really is a great lathe. It has an RPM range of 100 to 3500 in 5 rpm increments. and it will hold the rpms at the set speed plus/minus 5 (even 100) while cutting.
