Trace the seat with a marker onto the foam.

For 1” foam, cut along the lines with a scissors. For thicker foam, I cut the pieces on the bandsaw.

Spray adhesive onto the ply seat, outlines with a cross through the center, then glue the foam to the seat.

Cut the Dacron somewhat wider than the seat for easy grip, then staple along the center of each side first, followed by pulling the corners in tight, and cutting away the extra, do there are no folds.

Pull the sides real tight across the foam during stapling.

Another way to cut foam (especially thicker, like 3-4”) is a kitchen electric knife from a thrift store.

Counter stools completed, with leather upholstery and matching Red Maple to knotted Hickory cabinet manufacturer stain.

Perhaps we should do a chair building and upholstery class some time in the future.
