Another attempt at yahoo groups

Actually, the first attempt didn't go as bad as I first thought. We did learn a few things.

1. Messages posts via email are not reliable from the sense of time.
2. To post on the Web site, you must have a Yahoo ID.
3. Your email that you use for posting purposes must one that is in your Yahoo profile. (Not really true, but for the best)
4. As DaveO said the only reliable way to use this group is to post any messages directly on at the web site, NOT via email. We will only use the email as a non-critical way of letting the other staff know what is happening.

For this next test, I have deleted all members so that we can try again from scratch.

In a bit I will send out the invitations to join again.

1. Please use the link that says "Join the group"
2. If not already, create a yahoo id and sign in
3 If already a member, sign in, if not already.
4 Your default email address for the group is the one I used for the invite. You may or should(if you use a ncwoodworker.net email) change the email to what you want, but it must be one that is in your Yahoo Profile.
Now that you are set up, you will post a message. NOT BY EMAIL. Post this message directly on the Yahoo group website. Include in the message your ncwoodworker.net username and the time that you sent the message.

That's it, we'll quickly know if this is going to work as hoped.

If you have problems getting to the point where you post a message on the site and/or receive the email that your post should generate, pleas let us know on this thread.

Don't send the post via email, got to the group site and post directly there. That's how we will actually use it.

Steve, other Yahoo groups I've seen have an area within the group site where messages are viewed. I am not seeing that with this one you are setting up. I would think that you would want it to work similar to this forum. When there's a site problem, go to the yahoo site and check messages that have been posted there. This might already be in you grand plan, if it is then I'll just shut up.

Still not received as of 4:49 PM -- The original one came in correctly to my e-mail address that was used when I registered on this site. I suspect you may have sent it to the wrong e-mail address (I can PM it to you if you want). I did register on the site without receipt of your new invitation; it requires your approval to complete the registration. Did you see that? Rob

I successfully posted on the yahoo group (Or at least I think I did). Wonder why you are having trouble with it?..:-? Of course, I can't read any posts - wonder why that is too?

I am sending it to the same email address.
I saw your request on the site to join, but I cancelled it, becuase I've really need to figure out why the invite isn't working. I'm going to try again

Steve, I haven't heard back on my PM to you at 8:00 PM; do you want me to use the original invitation you sent everyone on the 19th to try to sign on again? You have my correct e-mail address and it has not come to me yet (exactly when did you set up the 2nd yahoo group?).

I joined the group and sent two trial messages. I, like Dave cannot see the list of messages. Will log out and log back in and see if that changes anything.
