I'm fortunate to spend this week in San Diego at the American School of French Marquetry learning the basics of Boulle marquetry. It's a great experience and I've learned so much. One new skill is the use of a chevalet, or marquetry bench. BTW, these are the same folks who make and sell Old Brown Glue.

Just watched a couple video's as this was new to me. How do you tension the blade? Just a spring on the thingamabob?

How do you tension the blade?
The wooden harp holds the tension. Attach the far end of the blade, then pull the back of the harp with the front knob pressing against your shoulder. Insert the front end of the blade and tighten before releasing. If it sounds a "high C" when plucked you have the tension needed.
