Al least it's not a funnel this time

I attempted to get back into turning after an extended absence this weekend, and my first attempt turned (no pun intended) out to be a funnel. If at first you don't succeed..... This morning I finished my second attempt. A bit of progress was made. It's not a funnel but I need to work on form (bowl is too V-shaped). Pics were taken immediately after wiping with mineral spirits. It was turned out of a piece of crabapple. My photography skills could use some improvement also.

I love the knots on the edges. It gives the bowl real charactor.

Mike, this was a small piece of crabapple. The bowl is 5" diameter and 2 1/2" high.

I actually like the shape, If I would change anything it would be the rim thickness, other than that, nice bowl, stick it in the calendar entries....

Thats some pretty wood too. Never seen crab apple before. Thrown my share of crab apples at my brother when we were kids, but thats another story.....
