Was wondering if any one has personally used a process to age brass? I have some round head brass screws that will show, ideally I wanted to remove the ‘new penny look’ and maybe make them a light brown color.
I once aged some brass screws in vinegar with a dash of salt in a plastic paint lid. Soaked them in acetone to remove any finish or sealer before trying to age them.
Mix 16 ounces hydrogen peroxide, 2 ounces of white vinegar, and 1/2 tablespoon salt. Brush the liquid on the dry metal. Wait for a reaction. When you like the look, rinse the brass with water.
