Hey Team,

A customer of mine reached out letting me know that they had some vintage 72" Hargrave clamps available.

I have no need but I thought that some of you might.

They are asking $40 each. (Original amount was too high it seems.)

DM me for Judith's contact information

Since this is a 3rd party seller I feel safe in making this comment without offending any fellow woodworkers on NCWW.

Any time I see the word "vintage", a huge red flag pops up. Invariably the price is too high for something quite common, or the condition is too beat up to be useful, or unobtainable parts are missing. Same red flag for, "antique", "heirloom", and "rare".

Just because something is old doesn't make it valuable.

I really like this style of clamps. However, I feel their asking price is high. I purchased a pair of these (same length) at an estate sale a few years ago. The price for both was about $40 if memory serves me.

Wait wait right there.
I'm antique, vintage, and rare (not an heirloom though). Are you questioning my value? 🤣😂😀

Adding context for pricing from what others have said.

I have ~30x of these vintage hargave clamps that I purchased both individually and in lots to build my workbench. I feel comfortable purchasing and selling these in the $20-$30 ea. range. This is supported by everyones favorite source of information: The Anarchists Workbench. Schwarz states:

“Plus, once you get a taste for old iron clamps, you’ll laugh at the plastic and aluminum ones on the market.

Expect to pay about $15-$25 per clamp. That’s a damn bargain, so don’t whine about it.”

I inflated Chris’s price range by $5 due to personal experience with reflecting the prices I’ve seen of these in small lots - the larger the lot size, the less you’ll pay per piece.

Not here to price bash, just wanted to offer some further context for the other replies I’ve seen here. YMMV

I reached out to the owner and she agreed to lower the cost to $40 a piece.

Updating the original post to reflect as much.
