A while back my boss helped me replaced ( I did a lot of watching) the AC compressor in my truck. He wouldn't take any money for his Sunday afternoon efforts.
A few days ago he asked how much one of my inlay cross pens sell for, He wanted to give one to his Pastor as a thank you from his kids.
I told him I would make it and cut him a deal.
What is unusual about this pen is the figure of the Olive wood. NOt overly figured but nice
After making a pen of solid wood you I always look for the "presentation" side.
That is the side that will get the clip.
With an inlayed blank the decision process is a little tougher. The inlay becomes the presentation side but the decision for its' location has to be determined before turning.
In this case I think I picked the right spot.
Note the Cathedral surrounding the oval inlay. I reoriented the blank with scrap wood to get the inlay in this position.
Thanks for looking.
