Howie - if you’re in the Holly Springs-ish area and need a hand let me know.

I have an engine hoist and a come-along. They’ve moved their share of big woodworking tools…

Thanks Mark, I just happen to be, Glendale Dr. off Optimist Farm Rd.. It's bolted through 3/4 ply into a small pallet just an little bigger than the machine base. Maybe pull the table then chains or straps through pallet and hook it just above base enclosure in throat area. It's bottom heavy so not worried about it up ending if hooked there. Then pull the truck out from under it and lower it to the ground.

Hey Howie - my $.02, with a sling-type lift, I’d want to pick it up using slings around the spine (it’s welded steel not cast iron right?)

..but I’m sure my engine-hoist doesn’t extend that high.

Any chance you can drive it into your shop/garage/under deck? Could McGyver a gantry and use a chain hoist to lift it (yes I have a chain hoist).

Or a tree with a really strong limb.😀

Another option might be to lay it down in the truck, then drag it out using ramps. Then use furniture dollys or ?? to scoot into the shop and lift upright.

What’s the weight? Plan to pull everything heavy and/or fragile off before moving - table, motor, exposed electronics,…

Question: How did you get it in/on the truck?

Where does it need to go once it is off the truck?

Surely you had a plan before you bid.

School loaded w/fork truck. Picking up 5 ton cherry picker in the morning. It will go on rolling base in the corner of the former 2 car garage. Used for a near future boat project.

Ive transported a few large bandsaws like these, always laid them down. Cant imagine transporting one standing like this, they are so top heavy. Lay on the truck bed, slide in spine down and you can ease them off the back by sliding rearward and to the ground (or onto mobile base) and stand them up. YMMV

I moved my 20” Yates American on a trailer and lifted off the trailer with my 2 ton cherry picker. Removed the table first so as not to damage the trunions Left the motor in as low weight.
Used four straps and cherry picker head in throat. Then drove out from under it. Lowered close to ground and moved into shop on the cherry picker wheels.
Fabbed the rolling base while still rigged up.
They’re (at least mine) big and awkward but not incredibly heavy.

Yeah, the laying down thing is my preferred method, but there’s more risk (IMO) with cast-iron framed saws vs steel frame.

You are making essentially a barbell - lots of weight on the two ends, connected by the cast iron neck.

You get some shock loads from some rough handling or too much bending stress and it can crack.

The Yates upright on that little trailer gives me pause tho LOL
