    new guy...not really, just S-L-O-W

Hey all, My name is Russ and I'm an - oh wait; wrong meeting. Actually I'm not an alcoholic, but I am truly a tool junkie with delusions of grandeur that include creating works of art from one of God's greatest gifts to the world: wood. When the inspiration occurs I want to be ready, hence...

    Slow business, built some furniture

Business is slow so I decided to build some furniture for sale. Not sure how it's going to work out. Here's my first piece. Cherry veneer and solids with 12 step lacquer finish. Photos tough to get especially finish. Comments welcome both on piece and decision to build pieces for sale.

Get time on your big, slow drill press in Raleigh?

My little drill press has met its match...in the form of a rosette cutter. The press doesn't go anywhere near slow enough and there is far, far too much slop in the spindle. The results are a bit frightening. Would anyone let me cut a couple rosettes on their press? Recommended speed is <250 rpm.

    Downloading Files - Slow Down!

I tried to download the rules and the prizes list for the raffles but received the following message: Slow Down! You are trying to download files too quickly. You must wait 17 seconds before you may download another file. This has happened to me before. I can wait an hour and still get...

    turning slow

I finally got back in the shop this week-end after double knee replacement in late Jan. Had to catch up on honey-dos first (stuff around the house and the much fun yard work). The lathe was a little tough because it still bothers me more to stand still than to move around. Anyway, I started...

    slow page opening

When I attempt to open a page that is secure (https) such as profiles the apge seems to open inordinately slow. Is this the "nature of the beast" or is my puter and/or browser being cantankerous ? thanks :wsmile:

    Slow uploading Photos

Is it me? I have tried several times in the last week to upload photos. The problem comes up if I try and upload 5 photos. It acts like it just times out and quits. But if I do 1 or 2 photos at a time it works ok. Slow but it works. I used to be able to fill all of the blanks and it would work.

    [Other-Main Site] Slow

Steve, just wanted to let you know that I've been noticing over the past couple of weeks a slow down on the site. The browser indicates it's waiting for "www.google.com" I have my browser set to keep 0 MB of cache, so this may be partly my fault. But it's odd that it's started over the past few...

Slow but stready progress with the armoire and wardrobe

It feels great to finally share some pics with you all. When our time has permitted, Becky and I have been working between 2 different refinishing projects simultaniously (a large alder and birch armoire, and a 1930s/40ish cedar wardrobe.) We also have a 1955 Lane Cedar Chest that's waiting as...

8" slow speed grinder - never used - $75 (Cary) I bought this 8" slow speed grinder a few years ago to use in my wood shop but never got around to using it. I dont believe I ever used it and it looks brand new. I am in the process of getting rid of some stuff so my loss is your gain. Dave...

    Slow drying poly

Has anyone had any trouble with Minwax Polyurathane drying? The last two projects I've used it on has taken 3-4 days for a coat to dry. The weather here has been unusualy warm and dry. Can it be too old? I don't remember having any trouble with Minwax products before.

    Benchs!!!!! Feeling Slow

Well, I've been working pretty hard on the class benches over the last week. While Insomniac is wrapping up the other two bases I've been working on the tops. They are all sanded and are very flat even with my measuring means. :rolf: I've been working on the one apron to make sure I have...
