Needing to get a floor down ASAP in my shed. I wanted to use a sold roll linoleum but time and money is working against me. What are your thoughts on using hardboard? The shed is 12x24 and several tools will probably be on mobile bases so I can maximize storage and work area. Would hardboard...
Another newbie holdfast question...
My searches have turned up a few people saying "holdfasts will not work in a square hole" but few of those appear to have actually tried it. Roughly an equal number saying "they work fine for me in square holes". Nothing either way too definitive. Christopher...

I want to use hot glue to fasten templates to work pieces. I want to be able to easily remove the templates without ruining the work piece with glue residue. Is there any such glue stick? What is it and where can I get it.
Thanks

Since I just picke this up last Saturday. I have noticed that the headstock gets very warm after running for a while. Is this normal for this lathe. I wouldn't call it hot just very warm.

I just got my new (to me) Jet 1014 home and immediately installed the retrofit variable speed kit from PSI. All works great and variable speed is fantastic. Now the question... Since the new motor I installed is a DC motor, I was wondering if it might be possible to install a reverse as well...
I would like to do some craftsman trim around alot of my windows. I have looked at videos and browsed alot of books and they all seem to start with the window frame exposed as a starting point.
Below is a pic of one of my windows. I can tell the sill and sides are plastic but based on my stud...
I am buying about 600 bd ft of green lumber (oak and cypress) from a sawmill and taking it back to a building I own (miles away from my shop) for storage and drying. I will sticker it right, but will not have much air movement. This building has ceilings about 15' high, cement block walls...
I am getting dangerously close to the end of my wide dresser project and have laid down the first coat of platina shellac to seal everything off. I also plan to add 1-2 coats of orange shellac for some warming effect but I need to know if I can then top-coat that with the platina for depth...

I have started a project to make Celtic knot trivets for family members. The first (pictured) was cut from 1/2" Brazilian cherry using a scroll saw. Celtic knots have an over-and-under look. To simply mark or burn the lines still leaves a flat appearance. In trying...
I went to loosen the depth stop on the fillister plane and the screw just came out. A bunch of fine sawdust came out so I know the threads inside the plane are toast. What would be the best way to fix it? I was thinking about turning a dowel to the size of the hole and gluing and redrilling the...

I finished turning a bowl and decided to finish it with Watco danish oil. I don't know if its a problem or not but it soaked up a tremendous amount of it. The weight of the bowl has increased by quite abit.
Being a bowl, I figured a great way was to just pour it into the bowl and spread it...
Anyone know of any rental companies in the Raleighwood area that rents small consumer sized leaf vacuums of any description? I wasn't able to get all my leaves to the curb before the city's last bulk leaf pick up due to all the rain/ice/snow we got and am looking for an easier way then manually...
My pen turning mandrel got really stuck today. I was pounding on the metal piece that was supposed to knock it out so hard, the plastic knob started to come off. I ended up covering the mandrel in a cloth towel so I could really get behind the mallet and let go.
Do you guys spray it with...
