    Latest project

Here is lastest project...trying to do a primitive/rustic finish. My sister lives in WV where primitive decor is quite popular and she sends me requests. I've noticed it slowly taking some interest here in our area. Will be interesting to see if it catches on. View image in gallery

    Finished project

OK, since ya'll say it's slow on here, I'll post a project I finished a while back. I would have posted earlier, but after finishing it we were camping a good bit, I forgot about it and it pales in comparison to most of the fine work I see from other members. You may recall I posted earlier...

Wood selection and manufacturing techniques for goodwill project

Hey everyone! New member here..I'd like to start by tipping my hat to other members and the old guard around here. Also, not sure if this is right place to post this..so sorry if it belongs somewhere else. I've grown up doing a lot of small projects (some zebrawood picture frames, small...

    First project was for LOML

I completed this on Christmas Eve. It was a gift for LOML and the first project to come out of the new WIP shop. It stands roughly 11" high by 16" long by 2" deep. Hard so see in the pics but it 4 pieces. It is made out of 1/8" baltic birch plywood. Sorry about the pic quality.

    Fun Project

A friend of mine sent me a link on making these and I thought I would make a few as Christmas gifts. This one is for my friend who is a minister. My iphone is for scale. I lined it with green felt. I paid a dollar at a used book store for it. I screwed a piece of cheap 1/4" play to each side of...

    Wifes second woodworking project

View image in gallery This is a door that my wife made to cover some shelves in our bathroom she used some of my scrap wood. She took two boards and groved and tenoned them and glued them together and ripped and trimed the door to size and jointed the edges and sanded it and used my router to...

    Small plate rack project

LOML wanted too store our plates in the cabinets vertical instead of horizontally. So I came up with this. My math was off just slightly on the last large plate before the smaller plates start. It looks farther behind the center piece it in the photo than it really is. the dowel is actually...

New Project - Natural Edge Table

I was fortunate to get some Spalted Maple from a fellow NCWW'r by way of my dad(JCRAIG). This stuff is beautiful. My wife has always wanted to have a natural edge table so I am building one out of some of this spalted maple. This piece is by no means the prettiest of the wood that I got but...

    latest project - turned mallet

Over at Hillsborough Orange Woodworkers we have been honing our turning skills. Thought I share my project: a turned mallet with a celtic (sort of) cross in handle and decorative scallops. The handle is walnut with oak cross and ambrosia maple mallet with mahogony decorative scallops...

Semi-hollow Body Bass Guitar - new long term project

Well a few years ago at the NCWoodWorker annual picnic, I won a book entitled Make your own electric guitar & bass. Steve Coles handed me the book and said do you plan on making a guitar anytime soon? I said no, but I'll take the book anyways. After reading it cover to cover, I got inspired and...

    Harpsichord Project - The Conclusion

Hi all, It's hard to believe but two years have past since the beginning of the Harpsichord Project on these pages. Many of you stuck through my ramblings for 29 installments. We saw pictures of the construction, heard sound examples from its first concert, and were instrumental into turning...

    Last couple of weeks project

I've been working on this off and on the last 2.5 wks or so and got the "woodworking" portion of it done last week. LOML was finally able to get some time to sit down with it and do her thing. As usual she did all the burning and I helped out with the "simple", i.e straight staining, while she...
