I finally got my "LAST" machine. When I started buying tools for my last and current shops in the mid 90's, at the bottom of the list was an oscillating spindle sander. I really didn't have much use for one and have been able to get by with some crappy drill press mounted spindles.
Though...
Not mine - Anyone ever seen one of these in action - I worked at an interior/exterior solid wood door factory back in the 90's and we had two of them there - It was pretty cool to watch - I never got the chance to run it  http://greensboro.craigslist.org/tls/1418000149.html
The chain hoist, along with some rope, did the job nicely. Lucky for me there is a suitable beam in my garage/workshop/basement to aid the levitation.
Finally, here it is on the stand in my shop. I'm halfway done...infeed and outfeed tables to come.
Hello,
I am trying to identify someone who would be willing to carve, on a CNC machine, some Text for a sign for me. I am willing to pay for the project. I don't know anything about CNC machines or what files they take but I would like to provide a word document or some such with a phrase...

A new one cost $795 at Amazon. Here is a pic from there:
I got the "fine" pinned blades that I will use with this saw:
to cut sound holes in sound boards for instruments.
I figured I should do some test cutting to see how well they worked and to brush a little rust off the operator. My oldest daughter had given me a paint palette to "clean off" and...
I thought about buying it. Came to my senses when I thought about it though. I don't think Bernhard or Scott have one so that excludes me. ;-)

The hold down clamps and lever are a little weak, but it's better than using a drill press attachment. It would be hard to beat at twice the price.

.... still got some of Uncle Sam's money to burn and thinking about a good middle of the road mortising machine. General, light work so I don't need top of the line.
Recommendations anyone?
This farm-made mowing machine was built by my uncle in the early 1950's. A majority of the parts came from war surplus army trucks. There is an article about it, in the June 1953 issue of the Country Gentleman magazine.
The mower has 4 wheel drive, 4 wheel steering, and independent 4 wheel...
Could I get an opinion on Harbor Freight's Central Machinery Mortising machine? It sells for $130.00 and cuts 3/8", 1/2", and 1/4". I have a HF 1hp dust collector and have had no problems with it. I see mortising machines running between $250.00 and above. I would put it on my Christmas list...
Ok I've now made up my mind :-D. I'm looking for a used skidsteer (Bobcat 7xx series or similar make / model) will be used to help feed hungry sawmill and move logs around. If you know where there is one forsale please let me know, doesn't need to come with forks but would be nice if it did.
Thanks
All,
A big truck dropped off the following crate into the garage today:
More to come as I get it un-crated, cleaned up, and running.
Might need help getting this sucker onto a mobile base, even though the manufacturer doesn't recommend that you put it on one. :eusa_doh:

Has anyone seen or used this product? :eusa_thin I am interested but reluctant to order one without seeing some reviews......

How do you clean your machine tops so that they look as good as new? That includes getting rid of disolorations. What products do you use? Do you use rust and stain remover, scouring pads, 0000 steel wool? Let me know what works and what doesn't.

Hi friends, does anyone know of a triangle area machine shop that will do a small job? I need to get new bearings pressed on my PM 72 tablesaw arbor shaft. I don't have a gear puller or press, so I know when I am over my head. I live in Chatham County, but regularly travel to Chapel Hill and...
