    Lynn box joint jig

I've never been happy with the Woodsmith box joint jig I built, probably because I didn't build it very well, and my box joints sucked. Yesterday I read about the Lynn jig (lots of info online) and built one this morning. And now I'm a happy box jointer. Simple instructions can be found here...

    Freud box joint blade set

For those of you that have a local sears store, they are clearanceing out the freud 8" box joint blade set for 24.97. They are still priced at 99.00 but they ring up at 24.97 at the register. The concord store still had 2 left this evening after I purchased one. Wayne

My first (successful) dovetail joint...and second joint with variable spacing

I turned out my first successful dovetail joint today. I have a need for through-dovetails for several upcoming projects. Over the years, I've drooled over some of the more expensive router jigs and even considered some of the shop-made jigs. I saw David Marks' episode with dovetails on the...

    New Thermwood Barb Dado Joint

    Rule (Table) Joint Planes

I am teaching a workshop on making a pair of rule joint molding planes. These are used to cut the dropleaf table joint. There is a matching pair, one to cut the hollow and one to cut the round. We will also cut a rule joint with our planes. The workshop is July 16-18 (3 days) at the Woodwright's...

Pocket hole screws & joint creep

I'm trying to make a simple butt joint between two pieces of plywood. They're about 10" wide. I drilled two pocket holes (at the correct depth for 3/4"), put one piece on the other, and clamped them together with a Kreg right angle clamp. The edges are perfectly flush at this point. The problem...

    Lock Rabbet Joint Durability

Hey folks, I'm laying out plans for a dresser, and am trying to decide what joinery method I want to use for the drawers. Dovetails are the obvious approach, but I like the simplicity of a lock rabbet, or drawer lock joint, (I don't have a dovetail jig yet). I'm planning on using 1/2" plywood...

    Woodsmith Box Joint Jig Help

All, and DaveO, :) Question, I have the WoodSmith Box Joint Jig and I am having an issue. Not sure if it is my jig, or it is something I am doing wrong. Ok I setup the Jig, measuring, measuring, and measuring. And I fully tighten all the knobs. I do three hits, on one piece of wood, and...

    Floating /loose/slip tenon joint

Are there any major reasons why you would use a true mortise and tenon joint of a Floating /loose/slip tenon joint? I could see if you were making a through tenon, but even then once it is glued into the mortise is there really any major difference?

    Strongest right-angle butt joint

I am working on a black walnut coffee table and will be what I would equate to as framing the top along all four sides with 6/4 by 3" boards. The joints will be simple right-angled butt joints, they didn't want miters at the corners. My question is what is the strongest way to join these at...
