    Grain filler question

Does this stuff have an expiration date, or does it ever 'go bad'. I have a can that has been sitting around for about 15 years and wondering if it is OK to use. Or just get off my cheap rear end and buy another can. Thanks.

Grain / pore filler for jatoba?

What's the vote on using a filler on jatoba / brazilian cherry? I'm starting to figure out the finishing schedule for this project, and I can't decide how I want to finish it at the moment, but an application of danish oil on a scrap tonight made me realize how open the grain is.

    pore filler recipe?

I've used a commercial oil-based filler before with moderately good results. I put a coat down on a scrap today, which resulted in 2 conflicts with this project - first is that I'd need to tint it. I can do that, but I'd rather not. Next is that it contains silica fillers, which dulls my scraper...

    Grain filler

I recently tried my hand at using some Behlen's grain filler on a red oak project (bulletin board for the workshop). WOW - what a difference. The ultimate finish (lightly stained) was much more consistent and w/o the typical dark coloring in the pores. When I finally manage to purchase a new...

    Epoxy filler

I am making a table out of walnut, and found the need to fill some "defects" in it. I used 5 minute epoxy mixed with sawdust. Here is what I started with (just one of several): I finished up with it looking like this after wetting with MS. and another: Actually, they look to color match...

    Strong wood filler

This picture shows the result of a second rate bedding job on a double barrel shotgun, a Brizilian made FIE, to be exact. The recoil has caused a fair size piece of wood to exit the stock, which is lost, and I'm wondering what kind of a wood filler might be most suitable for making a repair. It...

    Wenge grain filler and finish

I am working on a project using Wenge and Zebrawood. since Wenge has an open grain, what can I use as a grain filler that has no effect on the color or grain pattern. Also, any suggestions for a clear finish that has no effect on the color? Do the same products apply to Zebrawood? I want to...

    Wood filler recipe

I am working on a picture frame out of Rosewood with a Walnut inlay. My miters came out nice and tight but I suffered a little chipping on the face of the miter cut that is now glaring at me like a bad miter joint. I have read about shop made wood fillers using sanding dust of the particular...
