I am looking for some 6/4 Cedar, or something that will withstand the weather. I am going to build some outdoor furniture. As I am still learning about the woodworking world what is a fair price?
Advice is appreciated.
I hope this is the correct place to ask.
I have 4 planks of walnut about 6 to 7 inches wide, 3/4 thick and 6 to 7 feet long. All 4 are nice grain and color.
My brother passed away a couple months ago and he has a shed of (a guess) 50 or so planks of rough cut cedar of various widths and...
Hi Folks,
My first project will be a picket fence (about 450 feet of fence, about 5 feet tall). I think I saw a suggestion on here to buy rough wood and plane it myself to save money. I found a good price on the DW734 and before I buy it wanted to double check to see if that is a good idea...

I am working on repairing a outside lounge chair. I think it is western red cedar. It is missing a few pieces and looks like it needs a finish to protect it from the elements.
What would you recommend?
Also, are stainless steel screws the best to use?

I'm building some Adirondack chairs. I built the sample out of Cedar and got a lot of tear out where I drilled the screw holes close to the edge, I’m also concerned about strength long term. It looks and feels great though. I’m considering Cypress or Mahogany. I’ve worked with Mahogany before so...
LOML has decided that she would like the easy to build glider featured in the latest Wood magazine. It calls for about 60 bd ft of cedar but cypress would also work well. I can live with some tight knots.
Does any anyone have a stash and if so can you PM me with pricing information. Near...
Does anyone know where to find spanish cedar that is 1/8" - 2/8" thick? My bro-in-law and I are going to be starting some humidor projects and we want some thin spanish cedar to line the inside of some boxes. Thanks guys.:thumbs_up
OK guys' educate me. I'm going to try a strip canoe and everything I've seen calls foe western red cedr as the top choice of stripping. I'm guessing the difference in western and eastern cedar is the fewer knots in the western cedar? Is this correct? Also where do I find western cedar?

I have an opportunity to acquire some locally harvested cedar. Looking for opinions on how I should proceed.
The wood was cut about 10 years ago and has been stored semi-outside (basically in a covered lean-to) under tarp since then. It does not appear to have been stickered - just a pile of...
