I would like to get some opinions on runners/slides for extra long drawers. I am planning on building a raised floor in the bed of my 6&1/2 ft. pickup bed with about three drawers. I'm sure some of you have a similar setup for your truck or have seen some. I was thinking of making it in two...
Well this one only took a year to complete. It was done in 3 steps. The main unit, the stairs, final trim and paint. I have a very happy customer, my 6 year old daughter. Here is one picture.

I am working on the side rails for my walnut bed and would like some advice on the best way to glue up this part of the project. I have attached a very crude sketch of the side rail to show my plan (based on the fact that I already have two very nice 6" wide boards planed down to 3/4"...
This question came about on my previous post on the "wood" forum regarding 16/4 walnut but I figured that I would put it here for more traffic.
I am going to build a bed out of walnut and the legs are 3" x 3" with a slight taper on the inside of an otherwise square leg. Something like this...
Took me about a year to complete but also built a spring pole lathe, saw horses and a steam box along the way. Learned a lot. I will think twice before rejecting the idea to carve so much barley twist. Not sure my hands will recover. Once again no power tools used. (though I didn't cut the tree...

Today, for the first time, I sold something to someone else that I made for myself. It was an original design and build and used for almost 3 years before I sold it. I'm talking of course, about my jatoba platform bed frame.
We're planning...
Started this yesterday ... it will eventually be a toddler bed, but for now it's a bunch of wood!:gar-La;
It is poplar and will be painted to match his room most likely. I am tossing around the idea of using baseballs at the post toppers, but we'll see.
Anywho... figured I'd share the...
I have a bed to build for my daughter. Wanted to use 4x4 walnut posts. Found the posts but can't get them dried. Don't have years to wait. Any suggestions on how to use walnut and make them LOOK like 4x4 posts? New to woodwork, not totally stupid but still not the sharpest chisel in the drawer...
Well after months of turning and carving I am moving back into the world of flat and square. Nice to be back! Here are some photos as I prepare the bed posts for bolt covers.

I don't know if I am posting this in the right category if not I hope that one of the handy dandy admin people will put it where it needs to be.
A few years ago I inherited a bed that I liked, it has a lot of emotional baggage associated with it. I thought that I could repair it and porch for...
Twin over Full with Trundle Bed. This is the rendered image with materials applied to the objects. There are several default wood materials to choose from - I don't know what wood I will use yet, but I used a combo of poplar, red oak, maple, and cherry to make it easier to view. Almost...
Twin over Full with Trundle Bed. This is a "hidden" image - basically tell the computer to hide the lines you wouldn't be able to see from this perspective.
Made a "scratch stock" yesterday if that is what you call it. Probably should have looked at some photos of "real ones". That said it works well and allows me to add a decorative bead to the bed rails.
this is my first try. Guess you cant go cross grain ? that try didn't come out so well...
