    Commission for a box

Thanks for the replies... it is a rather large knob. I really have no idea what style/shape of box would suit this. A box for triathlete gear sounds like a great idea. I found Matt's site (www.inlaybanding.com) - a solid recommendation based on the examples I see on his site. I'll contact him...

    Commission for a box

Hello all! I'm looking for design ideas, and maybe a reference for someone to do some commission work. A friend of mine won an award for a team triathlon event. The trophy was in the form of a handcrafted knob... looks to be made of ceramic, with a threaded insert base. The pictures show the...

MDF, Sewer Pipe, and an Earth-Shattering Kaboom!

The amp is from O-Audio, but they've been out of stock for more than a month now. The EQ settings and continuous phase adjustments are nice features. Monty

MDF, Sewer Pipe, and an Earth-Shattering Kaboom!

Thanks a lot. It's good to see some familiar people on here... I've been able to lurk around from time to time but that's about it. I think a lot of the measured low-end response is room effect, with placement near a corner, but I'm pretty happy with it.

MDF, Sewer Pipe, and an Earth-Shattering Kaboom!

Just to prove that I'm still alive, and that I still get down to the shop from time to time: My home theater subwoofer project... My basement is divided in two parts - one half is the workshop and the other half is finished. In the finished half of the basement there is a wall which has for...

    I need FTP access again

I was recently notified by the webmaster that I need to move my stuff off of the NCWW server. My humble little site (shootingboard.net) has been on the NCWW server almost since the beginning of NCWW... and unfortunately I've been neglecting it even more than I've been neglecting my shop lately...

    Weight loss. (update 2)

Re: Weight loss. Good for you Tom! I'm glad to see you're making progress. I never thought I'd say this, but I'm looking forward to seeing you get back in that kilt of yours... only 8.5 lbs to go, then you'll have to start shopping for "skinny kilts"! :icon_thum

Bench Update #3- It's done! many pics

Amazing! Once again you have demonstrated the ability to take it to the next level. I'm still marveling over the adjustable height feature, but I like that wide twin screw vise and huge work surface even more. Looks like you could land an airplane on that thing! Your design will be an...

    Veritas Twin-Screw Vice parts

I picked up some go-cart chain from Northern Tool when I put my twin-screw vise together - worked just fine. Edit: I just checked their site, and it looks like they sell a connecting link separately.

How to avoid downloading off-topic threads

Yes. Take this example: http://www.ncwoodworker.net/forums/search.php?do=getnew&exclude=105,77 That one will also exclude the "Found for sale/Hot deals" threads... maybe that will help someone resist those temptations! Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1)...

How to avoid downloading off-topic threads

The original thread that asked this question is closed. Here is my suggestion, if anyone wants to "block" certain forums. RIGHT-click on this link: North Carolina Woodworker - New Posts Select "add to favorites" or "bookmark this link" from the menu that pops up. That will add a new...

How should I tack this veneer back down?

It's good to be back! I'm a little worried about squeeze-out ruining the finish... I suppose painter's tape would help prevent that, but this is a very visible area and really I don't want to risk screwing it up (again). I've had plenty of experience with TB and contact cement, as well as...

How should I tack this veneer back down?

Approximately 50 year-old piece... refinishing... card scraper... should have zigged when I zagged... yea, I know better. :eusa_doh: I'm thinking hide glue? I don't have any experience with the stuff. Any advice appreciated.

    Thanks for the Klingspor Extravaganza

I think that all who helped pull off the NCWW gathering this weekend deserve a big THANK YOU, as they really represented this organization well. :eusa_clap There were scheduled demos, great projects on display, and always someone to help others who were interested in learning about pen...
