    Filling planer tearout

    i'm building a vanity and the top is ash finished naturally. the tearout needs to be filled , but, since i'm finishing the top naturally, i'm thinking I could use a clear epoxy to fill the tearout spots and then proceed with the poly or lacquer finish. thoughts? Phil capper

    Jonz great to have the list. maybe it could be put somewhere permenantly for future reference. Two additions: Internet Lumber Co and Wood Warehouse in Franklin NC. I'll post the phones and addrresses etc later. If anyone knows of more suppliers in WNC it would be greatly appreciated.

    4/4 FAS or select walnut

    does anyone have the inside track on walnut. Steamed or low sapwood. I need 100bf and 50bf of select or #1 poplar. I live in very western north carolina and am trying to keep the drive short with the cost of gas

    guess the pictures didn't make it .I'll try again. I give up they won't load so sorry but try the sealer/lacquer and pickling on some scrap and see how you like it

    White Pine Finish ?

    I use a sanding sealer followed by semi gloss lacquer. Any pine will eventually begin to yellow, a white pickling (mineral spirits and white paint) brushed on and wiped off will help a lot. Here is the sealer/lacquer finish on a couple of pieces I did recently.

    make a panel saw. nothing has saved me more time. make storage cabinets for your shop like these. I make them out of wood left over from projects, with small drawers and they are really handy

    I suppose everyone except me already knew about Internet Lumber Co in Yadkinville NC , but I just stumbled onto it and their prices don't seem too bad. They also offer a lot of species as well as personalized quotes for lumber and flooring. Thought I'd mention it. Phil
