Cypress for Windsor chairs

Green red oak is impossible to find here. Anyone used cypress for Windsor chair building? Or suggestion about what I can use?

Eastern Red Cedar

I've received a 12'x6"x15" plank that was cut last week. It's wet. The miller said to coat it with clear water based paint and it will retain it's color. It's going up as a fireplace mantle so not too concerned about shrinkage or cracks. Anyone worked green ERC and have some suggestions for...

We're making ribs for surfboards and even when we gang them up it takes time. Anyone have suggestions for small scale cnc machine. I need something that can handle 2' by 36" or better but need to keep cost down. Used is fine or home build that's working. thanks, dan...
