    Carving a doggy statue

Hi, We laid our furry baby to rest on friday. It was the hardest thing I've ever done, but he was suffering from aggressive cancer and we couldn't bear to see him suffer. He'd always guard my shop/shed and as a memorial, I'd like to carve out a statue of him doing the same. I've never carved...

    Cradle build complete!

Just finished the cradle a week or so ago. This was my first complicated project, and I learnt a lot. Thanks to @Canuck for the plans. The wood is mostly a mix of maple (tiger, burl, clear) with walnut for the end panels and stretcher cap. Finished with three coats of shellac and lacquer.

Fellow woodworkers, I'm a software engineer and weekend woodworker, and I thought I'd combine my two interests and work on software that woodworkers would find easy to use. I was thinking of software that would be more intuitive than sketchup, so something that would allow the user to work in...

Has anyone turned balusters without a lathe? Maybe using a jig or a router-lathe setup? My mother in law wants some balusters turned, but is having trouble finding a good turning source in her neck of the woods in SC. Any advice would be appreciated!
